Let me start off by saying.. Holy cow has it really been 2 1/2 years since I have updated!?! I'm horrible, I know, but let me assure you those years have flown by with lots of fun and not so much fun times! But that is life and we play with the cards we are dealt. And I for one like to think that I have been dealt a pretty good hand! I can't believe that our babies are not really babies anymore. Although they will always be my babies no matter how old they are. Lily Ann is now 5 1/2 and Cash is 3 1/2.... Seriously where has the time gone!?!
Hello 2014!! You have come in with a bang hands down! January was one of those not so much fun times..I'm not talking about a couple of days... I'm talking about the whole month.. The month started off with Jacob having knee surgery. We were not for sure exactly what to expect until the Dr. got in to actually see what all damage was done and what could be done to fix what is left. It was bad but not as bad as we had expected.. Basically the Dr. went in and cleaned all he could, trimmed very little on the meniscus (There is very little left from his previous surgery in 2009), cleaned out the loose cartilage that was floating around in the knee, and tried to preserve as much cartilage as possible. He does have a couple of places where it is all gone and it is bone on bone. (Makes me cringe just thinking about it)What it all boils down to is arthritis is basically eating up his knee and we are trying to buy as much time as possible before a knee replacement! We are almost a month out from surgery and he is doing great! His knee is getting stronger and stronger every day. Did I mention that he has basically been home with us since the middle of December except for a few days! This is the longest time we have all been together as a family in a little over 2 years.. Maybe this is why I actually have time to update. LOL! It has been GREAT!! Now he is getting ready to head back to the boat and that means transition time all over again.. But this is our life that has been given to us so we get back to our "normal" after a few days and thank God for the time that we have got to spend together as a family and pray for the time to pass quickly.
Now on to the most energetic, funny, loving, sassy little girl, Lily Ann! I can't believe she is 5 1/2 (seriously going on 18)and will be starting kindergarten in the fall.. The day after Jacob's surgery LA came down with a fever of almost 103! I pretty much kept her fever under control all day. The next day (Friday) I had got up to go to work and LA was once again running a fever and had a horrible cough.. I went ahead to school and called and made her an appointment to be seen in the afternoon and I'm glad I did. Turns out this sweet little girl had the Flu Type A. Bless her heart she would run a high fever one day and the next day be completely fine.. We repeated this about 3 times over the next week. I was literally running from our bedroom(Where she spent most of her time) and the living room where Jacob was. To say those 7 plus days were anything but stressful and exhausting would be a lie. Not to mention trying to keep Cash entertained at the same time.. I think I am probably sporting a few new grey hairs, but hey that's what hair dressers are for right!?! LA is now back to her busy self and we are getting ready to start back up Tee Ball! I'm so ready for Spring you have no idea!
Last but not least a little update on my sweet, handsome little boy! Cash is now 3 1/2!! Still in shock over that one! It seems like yesterday that we had just brought him home from the hospital. So after Jacob and LA were slowly getting back to themselves (last week)we were finally heading back to school. Wednesday was a morning like any other morning around here.. It was very cold and we were running late! HA! I had pulled up to school, unbuckled the kids, and put their jackets on. I got out of the truck and went to open up Cashs' door. Little did I know that he was leaned up against the truck (Tahoe) door with his hands in his pockets. Not realizing this, I opened the door and as I did he fell out face first and landed right on the concrete. My heart literally stopped and I thought I was going to pass out. I immediately dropped everything and picked him up. By this time LA had made it out her side of the truck and made it around to us. She was very upset and was ready to help. I couldn't see much except for blood coming from his nose and mouth and some road rash on his forehead. Then he happened to look up for a split second and I noticed that his tooth was chipped. All I knew was that I needed to get inside to get a better look and figure out where to go from there. LA grabbed all of our things and we ran to the school. Once inside, our wonderful director, was quick to help. God has blessed me with the most amazing people in my life! I was able to sit Cash down and and get a good look and that little chip was a crack all the way up his tooth. He had a busted lip and a cut on his nose. Poor boy also had road rash on his upper lip and his forehead. Luckily my Mom works in the church office so I managed to call her and she was over there with me before I knew it! I was finally able to get him calmed down enough to where I could think for a minute and find a dentist to get him in to ASAP. He kept saying "It's not fair! Mommy it's not fair!" Luckily I was able to get him seen right away! He was so brave and didn't fuss at all. And like I knew, I was told they were going to have to extract the tooth. So now my cute sweet little boy is sporting a snaggle tooth smile. Cash is not good with change and I was so worried that he was going to have a hard time adjusting to this but this little boy is so proud of his "one lost tooth" as he calls it! I have to say that I have the funniest video of him after he was given his medicine to relax him before they pulled the tooth. He laughs every time he watches it. He was sore the first couple of days but is pretty much back to normal and nothing is slowing him down!
So in a (long) nutshell this is how we started our New Year! I'm almost positive it's going to be a lot better! Jacob is finally home for a winter storm and actually got to get out and play with the kids today in the snow. I watched them from inside as they played and I was thanking God for blessing me with these 3 people who are my world and my everything! This last month has been rough and I have to admit that while I was running around like a crazy woman taking care of these 3 I wouldn't have it any other way. I am truly blessed and this picture explains it all!!
